தென்னிந்தியா – வட இந்தியா பற்றி அம்பத்கர் கூறியது:

“ வடக்குக்கும் தெற்குக்கும் இடையே மிகப்பெரிய வேறுபாடு உள்ளது. வடக்கு பிற்போக்கானது, தெற்கோ முற்போக்கானது. வடக்கு மூட நம்பிக்கைகளைக்கொண்டது, தெற்கோ பகுத்தறிவுத் தன்மை வாய்ந்தது. கல்விரீதியில் தெற்கு முன்னேறியுள்ளது, வடக்கு பின் தங்கிக் கிடக்கிறது. தெற்கின் பண்பாடு நவீனத் தன்மை கொண்டது. வடக்கின் பண்பாடோ பழமைத்தன்மையோடிருப்பது.

There is a vast difference between the North and the South. The North is conservative. The South is progressive. The North is superstitious, the South is rational. The South is educationally forward, the North is educationally backward. The culture of the South is modern. The culture of the North is ancient.
